This is what you'll be able to do :

You'll be able to write an essay explaining how your animal is valuable to the Adirondack Mountains and the food chain.

You'll be able to say that you've worked with a fellow classmate and were able to give a presentation on the comparison of both animals and demonstrate why both are important to the food chain.

You'll be able to explain to the class why your animal is important to study and why this assignment was given.

You'll be able to defend your position on why we should or shouldn't protect the forest preserve.

You'll be able to make a graphic organizer of the information that you found on your animal or draw a picture of your chosen animal.

You'll be going on a one day hike in the Adirondack Mountains and use all of your new found knowledge to identify some animal tracks and some insight into the history of the place.

Some Questions to Ask Yourself

What role does this animal play in the food chain?

Can you find a reason why environmentalists and industrialists could have conflicts about these animals and the places where they live?

What are the causes and effects of this animal's eating, drinking, performing daily functions?

  The Animal Prints

We are going to create animals prints in the conclusion of this unit during our hike. Using plaster of paris, you will be able to have a paw or foot print of your selected animal (if it's a ground creature of course!)
